Yingmei Duan was born in 1969 in China. In its beginnings, it belongs to the Chinese avant-garde and lives in Beijing at the legendary East Village art district as a painter. In 1995, she participates in the Performance "To add one meter to an anonymous mountain", which has become a classic of Modern Chinese.

For pure performance artist, she is under the influence of Marina Abramovic, where she studied from 2000 to 2004 at the HBK Braunschweig.
